Central Beliefs

Even within the LCC community, there are going to be some differing beliefs on some issues. In fact, most of the time a healthy balance of different ideas keeps us learning and seeking truth from God’s Word together.  As a result, it can be hard to say for sure what our community believes as a whole on some of these “gray area” issues. But there are still some central beliefs that we build our foundation upon.

God

God is the one and only absolute creator of the universe. He exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and each is fully God.

Genesis 1 // Romans 8 // Matthew 28 // John 1

The Bible

We believe God moved through His Spirit to enable men thousands of years ago to write what He wanted written down for His church. We are serious about learning from the Bible what God wants us to know and understand. We seek to understand this message from God because it is our guideline for what we believe and for how we live as both individuals and as a group.

2 Timothy 3:16

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. He was in the flesh both God and man. He taught and did mighty works and miracles that are revealed through the four Gospels. As He predicted, crucified as a penalty for our sins and was raised from the dead in bodily form 3 days later. Later he ascended into heaven to be at the Father’s right hand ,where He is head of the church and intercedes for believers. He will come from heaven again to receive His people to be with Him forever.

John 1 // John 3:16 // Colossians 1:15-20 // Revelation 22

Salvation

We have all sinned and disobeyed God. He offers forgiveness for our sins through Christ’s sacrifice; it is a free gift; it is not earned nor is it deserved. We are saved through placing our faith in Jesus Christ. Because we believe in Christ, we respond in faith through repentance, confession of Christ as Lord, baptism by immersion, and living an obedient life led by the Holy Spirit.
