Ninos de Mexico: Day 4
Sorry for the delay! The internet was down all day yesterday!
¡Buenos noches! What a day at Ninos! It all began with a walk searching for tamales, but we came back home with Mexican sweetbreads for desayuno (breakfast). We went straight to work. Lori Lynn, Diana Lael, Sha-Nay-Nay, and Lauren Aleise sorted through school supplies and curriculum, Wesley completed the office in lime green paint and fresh white ceiling, Gregory, Timothy, and I continued painting the Genesis kitchen and dining area from yesterday, and Dave and Christopher completed the water project. Both sides of the Genesis house now have water, thanks to many handy men. That means we can wash the dishes without having to boil a pot of water in order for it to be hot (one of many conveniences we take for granted). Botana today consisted of tropical fruit. There was a variety of watermelons, papaya, mango, strawberries, and grapefruit. ¡Delicioso! Then we proceeded with our tasks at hand until lunch at four, which was Aztec Cake. We compared this to King Ranch Chicken. After a few games of ping-pong, we went to the Agape house to meet the kids and played a game of volleyball in the rain. Most of the kids from that house were at camp this week. But, we did get a tour of their neat and tidy home and spotless bedrooms. They were quite proud of their rooms. Now, we are back and eating our fourth meal of the day, consisting of nachos. We will have devotions soon, then we will be off to bed. Many thanks to all who have made this experience possible. It is one that has been life-changing. There are so many opportunities to help others that are making such a difference in their communities to share God’s Word. Hasta mañana and many blessings.
