The Doors Are Locked?

Imagine showing up at the church building on Sunday morning just before the worship service starts and finding all the doors are locked. You know you are there on the right day because the parking lot is full of cars. What's going on?

 

This actually happened to a big church in another state several years ago. Their attendance was great but when the auditorium was full fire officials required them to lock the doors so the crowd wouldn't be above seating capacity. It was not unusual for people to find themselves on the outside wanting in. 

 

Well, here at LCC we haven't had to do that yet but we have maxed out our seating.  Attendance at our worship assemblies on Sunday morning has been steadily increasing. In fact, our keeper of facts, Troy Bayne told me the other day that on Sunday, February 21,  a new high attendance record was set for LCC.  Right now everyone who is actively involved in the Longview Christian Church family could not fit in the auditorium at the same time. 

 

To accommodate this growth the elders have decided to start a second Sunday morning service. The Sunday morning schedule will be: 8:00 AM Worship; 9:45-10:45AM Foundation Studies; 11:00 AM Worship. (A half hour has been built into the schedule between the first service and Foundation Studies for fellowship.) Each worship service will be identical so the choice is up to you and your family. My experience with dual services is that early risers really like to start their morning with worship while they are still rested and fresh. It is the starting point for the week and hopefully sets the tone for the week, too. Families who like a leisurely start to Sunday can choose the second service. I have also seen families switch back and forth between services depending on their plans for that Sunday.

 

God has been and continues to be at work in our midst. It is exciting to see what He will do next! Won't you come and join us? There is room for you.
